This weekend was a historic one for the G2 ARMY as we capped welcoming Red Bull as our new partner with a second LEC trophy!
The story could not have been written better. After a historic reverse sweep in the Summer Split playoffs, the two biggest rivals of the LEC, G2 Esports and Fnatic, again took to the stage to determine who would be crowned Champions of the LEC - and the series did not disappoint.
It was a close one, as we traded blows and games with Fnatic to tie the series at 2-2, queue Silver Scrapes and force the Game 5 everyone was waiting for. The fifth and final game culminated with Perkz pulling out his signature bot-lane Syndra and a dominating performance over Fnatic to claim victory and the LEC trophy!
With this incredible performance, we continued our reign as LEC Champions and secured our 6th ever European title! Perkz also claimed his 6th title to become the most-decorated European player in League of Legends history! The accolades don’t stop there however, as Jankos was crowned Summer Split MVP and MVP for this final series. Furthemore, both he and Perkz earned their 1,000th career kills respectively during this series!
From everyone at G2 Esports, a huge congratulations to Perkz, Caps, Jankos, Wunder and Mikyx, our substitute player promisq, Head Coach GrabbZ, Head Analyst Duffman and Team Manager Mitch Voorspoels for the incredible win this weekend.
That was not our only top performance this weekend however! Over in Montreal, our Rocket League team also turned in an incredible run at the DreamHack Pro Circuit.
The boys got off to a flawless run through the first day and gave exciting performances in day two against The Peeps and Renault Vitality. The real excitement was saved for the third and final day though. After a clean 3-1 victory against EU powerhouse Dignitas, we played a series for the ages against rivals NRG. After being down 1-3 we dug in and came back to win the series in a 4 minute Game 7 overtime to make it to the finals. In the final against The Peepsm we recovered a 1 - 3 deficit to bring the series to another Game 7. This time, unfortunately, we were unable to convert the momentum into a tournament, taking second place instead. Congratulations to JKnaps, Rizzo, Chicago, and Team Manager Jahzo for another top performance this weekend.
Thanks to every #G2ARMY fan that showed their support and cheered all our boys on across the world! Don’t forget to stay updated on all things G2 on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and Twitch.
