Mighty Hammer, Mighty Team

Mighty Hammer, Mighty Team

After last night’s nail-biting final against Team Empire, our Rainbow Six team became two-time world champions as they took the hammer back home, along with the $800,000 first prize of the Six Invitational 2019 in Montreal.

After a rocky start to the tournament facing Mantis and almost losing the first map, G2 got back up in Coastline, winning the game 8-6. The following match against Mockit was a decisive one which gave us a spot in the quarterfinals, but not without a fight.

Our quarterfinal against SSG saw the only map we lost during the whole tournament. It was one of the closest and most competitive match-ups, but we got back on our feet on Bank and Villa, taking the series 2-1. The semifinal against REC was also a close one, and Fabian called them onto the stage with G2 after our 2-0 win.

Empire, a team competing for the first time in the Pro League, gave the boys a run for their money with a high level of mechanics and aggressive play, but G2 put up a strong front winning the series 3-0. Although Bank was our best map with a 7-1 score, all eyes were on the match during Coastline, which went down in history as the longest map in overtime, with 22 rounds.

Over the course of the tournament, our players showed admirable dedication and teamwork, stepping in for other teammates when needed. Goga showed an incredibly strong performance during the entire tournament  and the team’s ability to adapt quickly allowed them to defend not only their title as world champions, but also a high-standing 100% tournament win rate for the roster.

Congratulations, from everyone at G2 Esports, to our reigning world champions: Fabian, Pengu, Goga, JNSzki and Kantoraketti, as well as to the team coach and manager Shas and team analyst Sua, for another incredible performance.
